Fresh Fruit Available at Santa Barbara Farmers Market

Now that I have your attention, let’s talk about what’s Dank and Delicious in California. Since the beginning of May, cherries and blueberries have been in season at the Santa Barbara Farmer’s Market. As recently as last week we have welcomed apricots and peaches into season locally.

We heard from a friend that there is a place just before Buellton where you can pick your own blueberries for a fraction of what they cost in the stores. After indulging in an almond butter and jelly sandwich made from Fat Uncle Farms and Harry’s Berries (found at Santa Barbara Farmer’s Market) we were off.

The trip took us about 35 minutes north of Santa Barbara. The drive up was beautiful, displaying amazing coastline and wild mustard plants.  Just shy of Buellton, past Classic Organic Farm (another one of my spots) make a right and turn off the road when you see the sign “U-Pick Blueberries“.  For $15 you can fill a pale about the size of a quart,  plus you can eat the berries while you pick.

We think this is a great deal considering you can eat one $5 tray from the store in about five minutes.  Another plus about blueberry picking at this location is that the property is amazing to walk on, it has a cool pond and huge oak trees that complete the scenery.  We truly believe that you should check this place out.  Buying local is an amazing thing for the community and we support it to the fullest.  Please remember to eat well and keep Cali Green.

There are many benefits to buying local, less pollution because the product does not have to ship over seas, knowing who grows the product and being able to ask questions about it, keeping business in your community and money in your town, and the freshest possible product.

Dayton Wire Wheel

The Dayton wire wheel was establised in 1916, when it was showcased on the Model T. After it’s birth it made even more history when it was chosen by the Wright Brothers to be the Wheel on the Spirit of Louis,  which traveled across the Atlantic.

Back on the ground the Dayton became a prized piece for race car driver’s axles. By 1948, every car racing in the Indy 500 had Daytons.

Presently, the lowrider culture has shown love for the Dayton 13-14in rim with open arms. Displaying them while car hopping, on tricked out trucks, old school impalas and on the toy model car.

It is clear that the Dayton wheel is a part of the west coast lifestyle, and can be seen on any given  Friday or Saturday night. All you have to do is look for the candy paint and the 24kt gold rims blazing by. Dayton has been hustling in the game for 93 years and has provided the style of the good old days with modern production to create the perfect wired wheel.

The Dennis “Polar Bear” Agnew

Venice Beach California was off the hook this past sat as the Dennis “Polar Bear” Agnew Skate plaza was  opened by Skate Legends Geri Lewis and Jesse Martinez. This park has been a long time coming.

I remember going to venice back in the day when the pit was still around and remember seeing some of the illest skaters of our time skating the gaps and murdering skate tricks with a grafitti layered background.

Now the 3.4 million dollar 16,000 square foot skate park dream is a reality in Venice Beach. Geri  Lewis and Jesse Martinez were on hand to cut the ribbon and release the thousands of skaters upon the park Saturday morning.

The park consists of Bowls, Steps and Ledges and is graffiti free for the moment but we will see how long that lasts. Dog Town was in the house With Original members and a sick party we had the chance of attending.

As always the graffiti walls were in full effect and you could really feel the Dog town Spirit Flowing threw the streets of Venice Beach that afternoon.
