Cali Green Store Closing – SALE!

As some of you may have heard, Cali Green will be closing its store location in Santa Barbara at the end of this month. It’s been an amazing year and now we are ready for the next phase in our journey as Cali Green continues to grow. Santa Barbara has been great to us and we still plan maintain our presence here, as it is our home and has set the pace for what’s next. Thanks to everyone who has supported us in some way, large or small… we have always considered ourselves to be grassroots company and truly believe that the involvement of others creates the foundation for what we do.

This year you can expect Cali Green to put out better products and more creative designs. We will be working with more hemp, organics and recycled fibers and producing more garments right here in California. We will be more involved in our communities as we hope to establish a non-profit sector for Cali Green. Also, the Cali Green Sound Project is in the works and in general expanding while maintaining a very approachable and down to earth mentality. We will continue to be available online through our twitter, facebook and myspace pages. Cali Green has been around since 2002, we know where we come from and strive to create a strong and influential company for years to come.

That said we would like to thank the family, friends, businesses and individuals who have contributed to Cali Green over this last year. We will be having a sale to clear everything out before Jan 31st, after that please follow us online to see what’s next!

Each piece is handmade by Shannon, the designer and only member of this gem from Oahu. The garments are created from vintage t-shirts, other vibrant materials and can be worn in multiple styles to fit your mood. It’s great to see more and more clothing companies creating better and more sustainable products. We recently came across Playback, a company based out of Brooklyn, NY who is focusing on the benefits of using recycled materials to create quality garments with style.

I like Playback’s approach, they have obviously done they’re homework. They’re looping in top notch schools like Yale and Standford to research and measure the impact of their production methods. All of this information is made available to you on their website.

The Process – the short version: Playback is gathering recyclable materials such as cotton scraps and plastic bottles that would otherwise end up in a landfill. They carefully sort by color to avoid using extra dye, break down the scraps into a fiber form and re-spin them into yarn. Yarn is woven into their Eco-Logic-Fabric and then designed into a garment that is better for the environment.

Cali Green is proud to announce that we are now carrying Playback products in our store location. We just got these in and now available online.. our new lounge pants our all eco friendly, made from a blend of organic and recycled fibers. On the front right thigh is our urb’n palms design printed with water based inks. These pants are soft, good for the world and very flattering.. and there are a limited amount before we run out so get ‘em while the gettin is good.

Love Revolver – art exhibit “opening night”

Last thursday we had the “love revolver” art opening for Ralph Silerio.. it was off the hook. The shop was packed with good people, music, art and good times. Thanks to all of you who showed up and made the night one for the history books.
